For thousands of years our being and the land have been joined. Today there is over 1 million hectares of land under Māori guardianship, how we manage our resources plays an important part in the prosperity and independence of not only Māori and whanau but for all New Zealanders.
Tūhono Whenua Horticulture is a Kaupapa Maori driven programme designed to maximise our yields from the whenua, Papatuanuku, and Ranginui (our Sky Father). Working within the realms of good stewardship (Kaitiakitanga) for the heath and prosperity of generations to come.
We are a collaboration of Māori business and horticultural leadership specifically focused on delivering sustainable productivity to Māori owned horticultural land. We understand that to bring about long term prosperity we need to work with both land and people – to treat the land respectfully and to build the capability of people.
By providing access to world leading horticultural advice and consultancy, Māori can lead the way in horticulture in Aotearoa New Zealand and the world. Employing precision horticulture techniques, we are able to transform land and horticultural practice to optimise productivity for improved orchard gate returns and ongoing sustainable production.
